Most insurance companies are not in the business of helping the people of Western New York. They don’t make money by paying injured people. In fact they increase their profits by minimizing the amount they must pay for your injury. I urge all of my clients not to speak with the insurance company without consulting me.

Some insurance companies send adjusters right to your home to offer a quick settlement. They may offer thousands of dollars to settle a case on the spot. But there’s a catch:

  • Insurance investigators and adjusters are trained to minimize your case. They’ll ask questions designed to get you to accept part of the blame, or to limit your complaints. This information will be used against you if you don’t accept what they are offering.
  • If you haven’t healed, you don’t know the full extent of your injuries and no one can put an accurate value on your case. If you accept the quick settlement, your case is over, even if your injuries turn out to be much worse than you thought.
  • You won’t know how much coverage there is. It’s important to know how much coverage there is so you can make an informed decision.

An experienced personal injury attorney knows the value of a case — whether big or small. If you have been hurt, consider hiring an attorney. The insurance company is experienced, and you need experience on your side working to get you full and fair compensation.
